Our Vision – Our Mission

• Our vision is to catalyse a new era of energy connectivity and cooperation for the benefit of present and future generations in North America and Europe.
• Our mission is to design, develop, and implement cutting-edge electricity interconnection infrastructure across the North Atlantic, empowering communities, driving economic growth, and mitigating climate change impacts and energy security concerns.
• The North Atlantic Transmission One – Link – 4,500kms (2,800 miles) long – is a set of 2GW HVDC subsea cables carrying only green electrons, between allies, strong load demands zones, active financial markets, and developed economies.

The history and now

• In 1866, the British ship Great Eastern succeeded in laying the first permanent telegraph line across the Atlantic Ocean.
• In 1956, the first transatlantic cable TAT-1 was laid between Canada and Scotland. Those links are bonding allied nations.
• Today, major advancements in renewable energy, HVDC cable technology, AI Grid management and cable laying vessels make this project non only possible, but necessary.

The benefits

Interconnectors are built on mutual trust

• East - West interconnectors are of a particular value - they harness the rotation of the Earth around the Sun: Lower curtailments of wind and solar for both sides and a better value for Canada’s hydro resources.
• Finally, it reinforces the Energy Security of the NATO Alliance amongst its members in a time when energy is being weaponized by hostile regimes.
